$13 million for Maryland Commercial Solar, but First Come - First Served

There is an exciting opportunity for commercial solar customers in Maryland - but act quickly because the funds won't last long.

The 2026 Commercial and Canopy Solar Program (FY26 CCSP) is making $13 million in funding available for property owners in Maryland. Each property owner can receive a maximum amount of $500,000.

This program is expected to be highly competitive and funds are likely to be exhausted well before the program deadline of February 11, 2026.

There are a few more boxes your project must check before being fully eligible for the CCSP. See the additional requirements below:

• Businesses must be registered to operate in Maryland and be in good standing with the MD Department of Assessments & Taxation.
• Proposed project site must be located in an eligible Maryland Census Tract. More on this below.
• Proposed system size must be 2 MW (2000 kW) DC or less.
• Facility type must be one of the eligible categories. More on this below.
• Project must produce a minimum of 20% savings on utility bill once project is complete.

Maryland Census Tract Eligibility: The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) has provided a tool for businesses to quickly check if your proposed site location is eligible.

Eligible Facility Types: The MEA also provides a comprehensive list of all the facility types eligible to receive these program funds. To learn more about these categories, you can check the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for the CCSP program. See the complete list of facility types below:

• Commercial properties occupied by retail businesses
• Commercial properties occupied by business offices
• Warehouses
• Hotels
• Multi-family dwellings
• LMI-serving 501(c)(3) Non-profit facilities (e.g. shelters, community centers and many more)
• Hospitals
• Home Offices
• Owner-occupied agricultural businesses
  

Further, these funds can be used to cover both Roof-mounted solar PV systems and Solar PV Canopies built over parking lots, parking garages, and even certain bodies of water. However, these canopies must also meet "EV ready" standards, which you can find more information on in Appendix A of the FOA.
